Weekender House Party 8-5-23

8-5-23
It’s astonishing how this time of Summer,
we are so grateful for rain!!!
And we’ve had a. week of it!
The Hubs and I are squeezing in one more quick trip this Summer.

How could we not when we saw this image from Chihuly Nights at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis?

On the Blog This Week
This was also one of my favorite weeks of the month, the convening of
The Handcrafted Society!
Click the image above for a 30 sec. fun video!
I am so obsessed with the method I came up with for painting on fabric!
It is incredibly easy peasy.
Honestly, if you can trace and color, you’ve got this!!!
This is just one of three styles I shared.
I love the watercolor feel of this.
You need to check out the others, particularly the impressionist style pears.
I’ve made the patterns are all available in the Free Printables Library!
(the password is at the bottom of your emails you receive)

Click on the above image for the video tutorial.

Coming Next Week:
I’m sharing a very fun new upcycle project, that was so much easier than I feared.
Love it, when that happens!
Hint: Keep a lookout for an old forlorn chair in your neighbor’s trash.
You’re going to want to do this too!
And I will need to start spending a lot of time in my sewing studio. Yes, the new Christmas Stockings will be ready soon!
There are a few stockings from the 2022 Collection that I can still make.
Look through these now. If there is a group calling your name, be sure to order them now. They will be discontinued when the 2023 Collection is ready.
My studio (and my brain) are just not big enough for two Collections at once!

Reminder for my Stocking Families:
We’re in August!!!
Can we ever start too early?
Well, I certainly canโt as the Christmas season is my crazy busy time.
This is a reminder that if you have South House Christmas stockings and your family has or is growing, and you need an additional stocking or three to blend in with your originals,
NOW is the time to order!!!
To encourage you to order before the season starts (before Sept. 1), I waive the $15 surcharge that Add-On stockings carry during the holiday season.
Click here, to order from SouthHouseDesigns.com or click here if you prefer going through Etsy.

Are you into Pickleball?

We still have a lot of warm weather ahead and I’m loving the sales I found on everything we need for some fun pickleball (or tennis or golfing) fun. Skorts have become my uniform from late Spring to early Fall. They are so easy and comfortable. Blue Tennis/Pickleball Upf dress and Upf 50 Skort and matching Upf 50 top.
That water bottle is the very one I could not survive without. It has always been within arms distance for over 3 years now.
I’m very fair skinned living on a lake. I KNOW sunscreen. This one has become my favorite! And a comfy visor is a must.
And how about that blue fawn neoprene sport bag? So functional for all the active gear, but still cute!
The paddle and ball sets are special prices only available at Target online. Both a really good deal for beginner to intermediate players. Red and purple set and blue and green set.
Isn’t this the cutest?
Well, it’s just one of 21 Unique Place Card Holders for Christmas!!!
My friend Wendy, [WM Design House] also made a coordinating name tag for each one and they are available in her Free Printables Library.
Ready to start thinking about Halloween?
Honestly, I wasn’t until I saw this adorable Ghost in a Cloche from Heidi [Eleanore Rose Home].
I’m still all about the Summer fun,
but it has me thinking.

There is a reason Anne and AnnMarie [Simply 2 Moms] are hugely successful!
They are amazing moms, friends and bloggers.
Lucky us, they share their Mom ideas freely.
Oh how I wish I had thought Open When letters for my kiddos, when they went off to college.
Or for when they started their careers in their own apartments far from home.
Or when our oldest married.
But maybe this idea is right for you and one of yours.

As I said before, I would greatly appreciate your feedback, any special requests, or questions you have.

I just loved your hand-painted tea towels and napkins. They are just darling. And I can’t wait to see the chair. I even have a few of those sitting around. Thank you for sharing my post on the Christmas Place Card Holders. The holidays will be here before we know it.
