Memorial Day
The unofficial, but cemented thru practicality, start of Summer!
This is the day, I am sure to hang the red, white ad blue proudly –
and pretty much every day until Labor Day!
Why is it that the Summer cries out for Red, White and Blue? And it’s not just with our flag, but also, bunting and balloons, desserts and drinks, pillows and plaques.
Anywhere we can we work in the RWB, we do. And suddenly it feels like summer.
Starting with a day to remember and celebrate all the sacrifices our service members
and their families have endured for our country.
And on Memorial Day, I was to share a glory story:
My younger brother, Paul Flake, is an absolute rockstar! Not just because it’s
Memorial Day weekend and he proudly served.
Paul just took up golf three, maybe four years ago!!!
And typical of Paul, he knows no moderation and is “all in”!
His passion and perseverance are paying off, and his young game is already so good he qualified to represent the Army at the 2025 Armed Forces Cup (in Evans GA)!!!!!

It doesn’t even feel like summer in the Midwest yet — but it is comin’ in hot next week. So let’s get ready!
I love to keep some patriotic decor up all Summer — or at least through 4th of July! You too?
I pulled some of my favorite patriotic decor — no plastic Uncle Sam hats for me!
I lean towards patriotic decor that is a bit more reserved. Bonus that some of these work for even more. That scallop wicker wall basket and the blue pillow have year round potential. The red stripe pillow can also works for Christmas and Valentine’s.
