What I Can’t Let Go Of:

How About Buy 1, Get 50 Free?

Did you hear about the pet octopus who arrived pregnant!

Yep, Dad and son ended up with 51 octopi instead of the one they ordered!

They went to extraordinary lengths to care for them, and to find aquariums that wanted some!

This story came out last April, but it is still rolling around in my head,

popping up here and there unexpectedly

usually when I’m in a more-than-I-bargained-for situation

You can read some of the original stories here and here and here.
Or the NY Times followup story from last week here.

On the Blog This Week

Custom Crafted Candles!

I feel a bit ridiculous about how excited I am about these candles.

More than just this one adorable pillar candle, I also shared how I decorated tapers, and even created a companion stripe to compliment the original florals.

All without decoupage — no Mod Podge or even glue! No mess crafting right here!!!

Fifteen minutes and magical results!

Since I was traveling and in-person grandma-ing this week, I only have one great share:

So FUN!!!

Leslie, of My 100 Year Old Home, shared all the details of how she created these delightful spring flowers that I’m obsessing over.

I think I NEED a few of these in my life. Bookmarks, anyone?

A collection of colorful, hand-drawn and watercolor-painted flowers in shades of pink, red, and orange, with green leaves, all cut out and layered on a light textured background.

Aren’t these the best? I’m planing to use Leslie’s technique.

But if you’re just not up for trying these yourself, I found these from Etsy:
