What I Can’t Let Go Of:
(just like the NPR Politics podcast on Fridays- minus the “Politics or otherwise” disclaimer.
This blog is publicly, a politics-free zone, so all musings will be “Otherwise“.)
I can’t let go of the awe of nature (especially living on a lake).
How when I take a few moments, slow down and really look,
there are so many delightful cameos of family life all around.
Like this cute turtle family enjoying the morning sun. The end of our cove seems to be the perfect habitat every Spring for a momma and daddy duck with their brood of ducklings. And soon, we’ll be surprised by the baby fawns that are delivered in the strangest places.
All this new life and activity is such an amazing gift to witness
(until those hungry deer start eating everything in sight including my “deer tolerant” plantings 🫣😱😩)

Ditch Your Tissue Boxes!
I’m all in on the decor trend of replacing tissue boxes with vases and vessels of all kinds. However, rather than repurposing a vase or such, I advocate making a non-box tissue holder from air dry clay.
This is my entry in the May Handcrafted Society challenge that was doilies. I chose to use a doily as a crafting tool, embossing my clay tissue holder.
Jump over and see how easily this came together. HINT: It’s just one piece folded! Template included.
Can You Guess What I Made This Ottoman Out ?
This is a rather straightforward DIY that includes a step-by-step tufting tutorial, for even the beginner upholsterer.

Tech Tip
Today’s tip is a game changer if you’re like me and use multiple Apple devices.

They will be in the Saturday newsletter emails only
(and sometimes in the FB and IG stories for my followers there).
It’s just one way I can say thank you to all those who support me time after time!

Modern Homemaking
Is it possible to Spring Clean an attitude?
I feel like that is the gift my friend Lynn (Living Large in a Small House) just did for me!
Homemaking is not easy! But it doesn’t have to be drudgery.
Whether homemaking for you is full-time or a side gig, it can be fulfilling, rewarding and quite lovely — with the mind reset Lynn shares in this surprisingly delightful post.
Fab Finds & Sales
These Jeans!!!
I could not be happier with these jeans!!!
- Soft, drapey denim (also available in white)
- Three lengths (short, reg, long)
- Just $26 — Unbelievable, I know!
Runs large, so possibly size down one size.
New Cute Wedge
I have had a pair of espadrilles very, very similar to these (but taller and a buckle strap).
They are so worn, that the rubber cement will no longer hold the sole together. I’ve been mourning them, until I found THESE!
Same shoe, even better (a bit lower heel and no buckle)
And they are COMFORTABLE and lightweight!
Several colors. Runs true to size.
I hope you’re enjoying the weekend!!! Thanks for hanging out with me a bit. Now I’m off to the Farmers’ Market to hopefully load up on plants for all the pots and garden spots that have been patiently waiting.
