What I Can’t Let Go Of:

Do You remember this “Can’t Let It Go” from three weeks ago?

I can’t let go of: That you’d think I would have learned by now!

When using a new-to-me medium or complicated technique,

I should start with a smaller, training wheels type project.

But no! Not me! What would be the fun in that, right?

The Hubs, you ask?

He’s a three pair of training wheels kinda guy!

So I never want to let go of the amazement that despite our innate differences,

thirty-nine years later, we are still best friends.

And we laugh at our differences even more.

Yes, the cement project!!! It’s very fitting that

my first foray into the world of cement would be a table top…

with an umbrella hole . . .

oh, and let’s add something interesting to the corners, too!

I mean, why not?

The first attempt turned out kind of more like . . ummm . . — okay, can’t sugar coat it.

But it served up a great education. Lots of lessons learned!!! And I shared them all in the blog post (along with pics) so you don’t have to repeat my education. You get to learn from my fail, so your first attempt can be wonderful like my second is!!!

On the Blog This Week

We held the July meeting of the Handcrafted Society, asking for elevated crafts using cement or concrete.

Honestly, there is not a boring project in the whole group!!!

I shared a step-by-step guide for making this concrete topped side table using a planter (filled with concrete for the base. It includes an umbrella hole and fluted corners.

Hollyhocks as Long-Lasting Cut Flowers

You may know that if you cut Hollyhocks and put them in water, they will be drooping and wilted in just hours.

But with a special trick between cutting and adding to water, your Hollyhocks can last 10 – 15 days!

Tired of Pesky Summer Flying Bugs?

I sure am!!!

Lucky for us, Vicki at Five Spot Green Living shared her solution to the summer bug issue.

Vicki claims it is effective — I’ll be giving it a try this weekend. I LOVE Summer and will try anything that helps with the bug issue so I can enjoy outdoors more.

Besides, it’s pretty too! And that counts for something, right?
