A floral wreath with white blossoms and green leaves hangs on a brick wall. In front of the wreath, "South House Housemates" is written in elegant script on a textured, white brushstroke background.

What I Can’t Let Go Of:

Dirt Rain?!?! Who knew!

Well the Midwest now knows there is such a thing!!!

And I gotta say, it ain’t pretty.

And perhaps worse than that, it sure squelches any refreshing Spring scents!

But after witnessing the devastating effects of high winds in CA,

I feel guilty about any whining, and feel lucky that we just had some
yucky air and crazy wind in my area.

I sincerely hope you are safe and enjoying a beautiful spring Saturday
or at least one with just some temporary “inconveniences”.

On the Blog This Week

A large decorative outdoor clock, a perfect DIY project, features a frame of green leaves and colorful balls. It adorns a wooden wall on this sunny day, with boats gently swaying on the lake and charming houses dotting the background.

Croquet O’Clock!

Were your summer evenings punctuated by family croquet matches too? My mother even gave us a croquet set for our first anniversary.

I knew I wanted a large “something” on the side of our tool & toy cabana. And when a charmingly weathered set was waiting for me at the thrift store, I immediately knew what that something should be.

I’m a sucker for nostalgia!

Spring Spruce Up and Fix Up Time!

And I’ve got you covered!!!

Do you have a hole in your siding, that needs fixing? Or perhaps you will when you want to install a new light fixture at the correct height.

That’s what happened to us, anyway!

Don’t worry! Our big gaping hole intimidated us for a couple of days, and then we came up with a surprisingly simple fix.

You’d never know it was there.

You may not have a hole right now, but chances are your day will be coming. Consider saving this pin to your Fix-It Board, or your Things I Should Know Board so it’s ready when you need it.

Basketball Cupcake Poster

March Madness

Whether you’re celebrating a middle school tournament or your favorite collegiate team in the run to the Final Four, snacks are in order.

And not ordinary snacks — we need celebratory snacks. Snacks that say these times are special!

I can help you with that. Including the free printables to make the hoop and net cupcake holder. Also the recipe and directions for making these yummy basketball meringue cookies (or cupcake toppers).

These are the cookies to serve to a crowd: gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, plus fat-free!

Text Messaging just got a new injection of fun!!!

I’m sharing the details in the email to all subscribers.

Remember, these tips are exclusive content for my creative community.

They will be in the Saturday newsletter emails only

(and sometimes in the FB and IG stories for my followers there).

It’s just one way I can say thank you to all those who support me time after time!

Don’t worry, you too, can become a House Mate!

Amazing DIY!!!

I have been entranced by Nicole’s (Simply Aligned Home) DIY projects for years.
She knows her style and lives it completely through and through.

It was her plate rack that inspired the piece that brought our whole dining room makeover together.

Now you won’t believe her son’s bedroom makeover. So full of function and sophisticated style.

A cozy reading nook features wooden paneled walls with a unique arch design. Three black shelves display books and a potted plant. A black wall lamp provides light. A large potted plant is near the window with green curtains. Carpet covers the floor.

A rustic wooden sideboard with ornate details holds a vase of pink and white flowers. A large mirror, a hat hanging on the wall, and a lamp are visible. A decorative bowl sits beside the flowers. The walls are white shiplap.

Do You Have an Intricate Piece of Furniture You Want to Makeover?

Have you thought about Soda Blasting?

Think of it as sand blasting, but with baking soda instead of harsh sand.

Kelli & Kristi of Lolly Jane, have a great blog post all about it including pros and cons and tips they learned along the way.

Makeover!!!

We’ve seen these shelves everywhere!

You may have one hanging in your house — or tucked away in the closet.

Well, you’ll be scrambling to pull it out and dust it off when you see how my friend Cindy of Reinvented Delaware made over one she thrifted for $3!

A beige, decorative wooden trim piece is displayed diagonally on a wooden surface. The grain of the wood beneath provides a contrasting background. The text "reinvented delaware" is in the bottom left corner.

A wicker stool holds a pink rabbit-shaped vase filled with flowers, placed in front of a brick wall. Two colored eggs, one green and one brown, rest on the stool beside the vase. Greenery decorates the base of the stool.

I have had sooo many comments & questions about my table hack

This is a cute vintage stool with a cracked black resin seat.

So I just inverted a wicker tray with a scalloped edge over the top.

Mine is an old basket I’ve had forever. But here and here and here and here and here are some scallop trays that would work great, provided they fit over the size of your stool seat.
